How to make Flavoured Kombucha

For those of you that have stepped out and made some Kombucha here are some variations you might like to try by adding it to the basic recipe.

Brewing Flavored Kombucha

You can try adding unique flavours like fresh-squeezed lemon or lime juice, ginger root “juice” made by blending ginger and water, blended berries, fresh-squeezed orange, pomegranate or cranberry juices.

You can also use other natural, low-sugar flavourings, but make sure that they do not include aspartame or any other dangerous artificial sweeteners.

It is recommended to do this after the kombucha has fermented and is ready to drink, although some people prefer to add flavour-enhancers to the kombucha a day or two before it’s done so the flavour can intensify. Either way seems to work well.

Another thing to keep in mind is that flavoured, bottled kombucha tends to have more sugar than the plain kind. Some brands add very low-sugar flavours like lemon, lime or ginger juice, which won’t jack up the sugar content, but look out for kinds that are high in added sugar and aggravate health problems.
