How do you protect your health?

What's in an oil?

You may wonder why essential oils are gaining so much in popularity right now and there are many reasons why you might like to give them a try. Maybe you have had health problems and are worried that you are taking too many tablets and remedies that are having long term effects on your health. Maybe you want to cut back on certain healthcare products because you want to regain control of your health and well being in a more holistic and natural way.

Why DoTERRA Oils?

DoTERRA has set itself the mission to share the highest quality and purest therapeutic-grade essential oils with the world having seen the amazing benefits that can be had from this incredible resource. They realised that the best way to share the unique experience that each oil brings is to have distributors work with customers as opposed to mass marketing.
The oils are a joy to use and experience and this is why you'll love to talk about them and the benefits that they bring. You can use them in and around your home, in your cooking, for your mental and physical health, for your skin, for your family and be assured that because they are so high grade that there are no nasty toxins or chemicals in there. You can diffuse them in a steam diffuser, apply them topically or use them internally to gain the benefits.
You may feel that your life is toxic and that you don't really know what chemicals go into your everyday household cleaning and personal care products. DoTERRA oils have so many practical applications that you'll find you'll be using them more and more because you'll see and feel the difference that they make to you and your family. Knowing exactly what you are using in and around your home will make you realise how much you took for granted when buying standard off the shelf cleaning, household and cosmetic products. More than that are the ethical reasons to use DoTERRA oils because they use a Global Botanical Network of artisans and distillers and by becoming a trusted partner in the essential oils industry, it has also been able to help communities improve their own economic future while doing this in a way that supports the environment too. DoTERRA are also committed to teaching you to become the best Wellness Advocate that you can with training on product usage.

I'm Melanie and I was stuck in a job I hated working with men and women that had no respect or compassion. It almost drove me to suicide particularly after a vicious male colleague subjected me to a very personal and hurtful verbal attack and the supervisor did nothing about it or to offer me any support. If you have ever been in that sort of a situation you may understand how hard it can be. Starting my own business made me stronger and a part of my business are the DoTERRA oils that I love. They help in so many ways, mentally, physically and give a great deal of pleasure.

DoTERRA oils are totally natural and non toxic and are a great way to express yourself as an individual. You'll have great fun learning about and experimenting with them. If you love to talk and show things to people you could even turn your passion into a business. Don't know where to start? Anything that has citrus in it will be uplifting, while things like Peppermint and Lavender help to lift your mood. You don't have to spend a fortune to start up and you'll know that what you are using supports you, your family and the environment.
Try this lovely trio starter kit and look out for my blogs on DoTERRA oils to find out how you can start using them for your health, around your home and in your kitchen! These oils are very high grade and of exceptional quality, which means they can be taken internally and used on your skin also.

Have a happy workplace

How much time are you at work?

The average worker in the UK spends 3,750 full days at work, which is 90,000 hours over the course of their lifetime and will also work 188 days of overtime. It makes you think doesn't it? That is a lot of time spent behind that desk or on your feet and the truth is that if you don't enjoy your time at work then that time spent there can feel like double. No one wants to be in a workplace where you feel unhappy or that your time is dragging for little reward at the end of the day.

You may have read in previous blogs other tips to make the workplace more fun and these included appreciating others, giving compliments, keeping in touch, laughing, brightening up the workplace and moving around more can help. You will have also heard how Monday can be the unhappiest work day of the week right and that you may not even crack a smile until around 11:16am on a Monday? It's the day among other things that you moan more on average, feel less attractive, have a heart attack, feel stressed and your work productivity will be it's lowest!  But here are some more tips you can try to take out the things that make it more stressful and help make your workplace a happier place to be.

Be more social

A good way to bond with your work colleagues is to have an out of work club or activity. Some people like to meet up to have a drink out of work or go for a meal and this is a nice way to socialise and get to know people on a more personal level. Bigger companies may have teams and sports that you can join, which is great particularly if you are sporty person. Chances are if your office has a good vibe there will be a person that organises most of the out of work events. This will give a single point of contact and helps to create a positive energy as people will have something outside of work to look forward to and it's something people can talk about after the event. You could even have an events or social notice board in a communal place so people can be kept up to date on what is being planned or with pictures of past events. As a caveat though, do remember that anything connected to your workplace sticks and that your behaviour in and out of work needs to be appropriate and display a degree of self control and decorum.

Want to treat yourself to something to make your nails look and feel healthier?

Feeling good about yourself also helps you to feel happier. The Happy Foot Clinic's very own scented cuticle oil range will help you to do just that. What's more you can use it on your hands and feet and with or without any nail polish or service. It is the only cuticle oil that uses a natural grapeseed oil base that is very nourishing, protecting and will help strengthen your nails and make ugly looking cuticles a thing of the past. It comes in 8 lovely scents - Lavender, Ginger, Rosemary, Marjoram, Frankincense, Peppermint, Cedarwood and YlangYlang and you can add some to your nails and cuticles throughout the day.

If you are in the UK, FR, ES, IT or DE then follow this link to get your bottle now.

Make your Hot Chocolate work for you. Try this out.

Ways to enjoy your Revital U

With the colder weather setting in you may be thinking about snuggling up on the sofa with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. Revital U comes as a coffee, cocoa or smart caps and you can keep it simple, but maybe you'd like to find out other ways that you can have your Revital U. Don't worry, you can still get the benefits of your Revital U, it is just about your personal preference and taste.

How do you like your Hot Chocolate?

If you have chosen the Revital U smart cocoa then I'm taking it you love anything chocolate right? You can make your cup of Revital U like any other hot chocolate drink or you can make it straight with just water, which comes in at 25 calories a cup. The best time to have your Revital U is in the morning and no later than 2 pm if you function in normal day light hours.

Try these Revital U twists on your hot chocolate favourites

To understand quantity here, a scoop is based on the one that comes with your Revital U cocoa. If you like your hot chocolate darker or lighter then adjust the amounts of cocoa to your taste.

You don't have to get expensive equipment, but I do recommend a frothing wand and a jug designed to froth milk in as shown. This particular jug is designed for the microwave and makes it really easy. These do a fantastic job and will give good results. You only fill the jug to the max sign then heat in your microwave for 60 to 90 secs.

To understand quantity here, a scoop is based on the one that comes with your Revital U cocoa. If you like your hot chocolate darker or lighter then adjust the amounts of cocoa to your taste.
If you have any dietary requirements, then just swap your normal alternatives for milk etc.

Simple Cocoa U:  Take 1 cup whole or semi skimmed milk and heat in the microwave for 1 to 1 and a half minutes depending on your microwave (or you can heat it in a saucepan, but be careful not to scorch). Mix a scoop/sachet of Revital U cocoa with some hot water (around a 1/4 cup or the size of an expresso cup). You can add sugar/sweetener to taste at this point. Use a frothing wand to give the the milk a nice small froth then add to the cocoa mix. Sprinkle with a light dusting of cocoa powder.
For that little bit extra add a little cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Cookies crunch Cocoa U: Heat a cup of whole milk in a saucepan or the microwave. Mix 1 scoop/sachet Revital U cocoa and 1 scoop normal cocoa powder with a small amount of hot water and put in a blender with 1 and a 1/2 chocolate chip cookies of your choice, the heated milk and blend until the cookies are completely ground. Pour into a mug and garnish with whipped cream and the remaining half a cookie that is crushed.
Irish Cream Cocoa U: Heat 3/4 cup milk in a microwave or saucepan. Mix 1 scoop/sachet Revital U cocoa with a small amount of hot water and add to the milk with 50g chopped dark chocolate, stir the chocolate to melt it and then add 15 ml Irish Cream Liqueur. Decant into a mug and garnish with chocolate and whipped cream as desired.
Posh Chocolate Cocoa U: Heat 3/4 cup milk in a microwave or saucepan. Mix 1 scoop/sachet Revital U cocoa with a small amount of hot water and add to the milk with either 50g chopped dark chocolate, mint chocolate or chilli chocolate according to your preference and stir the chocolate to melt it. Decant into a mug and garnish with chocolate and whipped cream as desired.

(The Revital U cocoa is a swap of Revital U coffee - you wouldn't use both as this would be too strong)

Here's the thing, people that are more happy in their life, work and home will probably maintain a healthier weight. It gives you something to think about doesn't it? Is your perfume making you depressed?

Are scents making you feel bad?

Did you know how many synthetic scents and perfumes are out there and how many of these toxic ingredients are finding their way into your favourite scents, not to mention the everyday products you love to use in and around your home?  Do you use perfume to make you feel better about yourself? In fact when I was younger I would never leave the house without my favourite perfume on. Maybe you're the same. Do you have a favourite scent that you wouldn't feel 'dressed' without? Do you get lots of headaches or feel down for no real reason? Have you ever felt rundown with low of mood? A toxic overload from your favourite scents and product may be making you ill without you realising it. The more scent you use on yourself and in and around your home the more likely it is that you are unwittingly exposing yourself to toxic products that are not good for your health and that of your family. Scent isn't just in your perfume or aftershave. It is everywhere. In your day to day beauty products, shampoo, deodorants etc to plug in diffusers, reed diffusers, scented candles or aerosol sprays. All these things are targeting to different triggers in your psyche so you think you feel better and happier about yourself and your home. Even when you go out you will be subjected to scent in some shape or form whether it is on other people or in the environment you are in. Even smoking has got in on the act! You may have stopped normal cigarettes and moved onto try vaping and e-cigarettes instead. These use synthetic flavours to entice you to use them. Throughout your day you will have used scent in some shape or form from what you used to clean yourself with to what is used to keep your clothes clean and fresh smelling, the products to clean your dishes, floors and home. Respiratory and health issues may be irritated by the very products you love and use each day. If the inside of your nose has ever felt sore or itchy for no reason, if you have ever felt excessively tired or run down or if you get headaches, aches and pains for no real reason it may be because of the products you use. A big part of many products involves scent. You love the things you use for yourself and home to smell nice.

But did you know you can improve your health by ditching the perfume and finding natural alternatives? When did you last look at the ingredients in your perfume? If you didn't catch my previous blogs on perfume then go and find them. You would have learned that ingredients such as Benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, ethanol, ethyl acetate, and linalool, commonly found in most perfumes can lead to respiratory issues, while Ethyl acetate may put you at risk of kidney or liver damage. It has cancer-causing ingredients, including benzyl acetate, limonene and methylene chloride, while the Acetone and benzyl alcohol are linked to disturbances in the central nervous system. Some perfume chemicals have been linked to Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Many chemicals in perfumes are linked to pain. Benzyl aldehyde is linked to abdominal pain while benzyl alcohol and methylene chloride are linked to headache pain. Benzyl alcohol and ethanol are known to cause muscle twitching and lack of coordination. Methylene chloride is documented to cause irritability and benzyl alcohol and methylene chloride are known to cause headaches. Let's see what else may be in there that is affecting your health.

It may be making you feel depressed

Ethanol and linalool are known to disrupt the central nervous system, which may be linked to feelings of depression or anxiety.

Does perfume give you a headache?

Are scents making you feel bad?

Did you know how many synthetic scents and perfumes are out there and how many of these toxic ingredients are finding their way into your favourite scents, not to mention the everyday products you love to use in and around your home? Do you get lots of headaches for no apparent reason? Do you feel rundown and low of mood for no reason? Your health may be suffering due to toxic overload from all the scented products that you use on yourself and in and around your home. If you love scent, then no doubt you'll use it in a big way, but even if you don't consider yourself a 'scenty' person, scent will still be a big part of your life whether you realise it or not. Aside from perfume and the like, you may have all or some of these types of products. Scented beauty products such as shampoo, shower gel, plug in diffusers, reed diffusers, scented candles or aerosol sprays designed to make you feel better, happier, sleep more, stay awake longer or to make your home look and smell better. There is some type of scented product for just about every room in your home. When you go out the chances are you will be subjected to an onslaught of synthetic and toxic scents. Even my bank has got into the act! Maybe you've ditched the cigarettes to try vaping and e-cigarettes instead and these come interesting and on trend flavours (all synthetic). When you get up in the morning until you go to bed, your day will have involved the use of scent in some shape or form from what you used to clean yourself with to what is used to keep your clothes clean and fresh smelling, the products to clean your dishes, floors and home. Did you ever take a cheeky sniff of a product before buying it to see if you liked the smell? With an increasing number of respiratory and health issues there has to be a cause and it isn't all down to the environment. Those very products you love and use each day could also be contributing to that. If the inside of your nose has ever felt sore or itchy for no reason, if you have ever felt excessively tired or run down for no real reason or if you get headaches, aches and pains for no real reason it may be because of the products you use. And part of the ingredients in many of those products will involve scent. With a big price tag on its value the perfume industry is huge. You love scent more than you know!

But did you know you can improve your health by ditching the perfume and finding natural alternatives? When did you last look at the ingredients in your perfume?
