Benefits of Drinking Water
Day three
Increase Your Brainpower!
Going along with the brain theme, drinking water keeps you focused and alert because staying hydrated will affect mood, cognitive and motor skills. If you become dehydrated on the other hand, this will make you more susceptible to pain as you have already heard in my earlier blog and dehydration also affects your memory. Dehydration can affect your performance in tasks that need your attention, involve psychomotor and immediate memory skills as well as your assessment of the subjective state. Being dehydrated therefore can make you more likely to make poor decisions.
You may have heard that it is bad to do a food shop when you are hungry, but often or not you may not be hungry, but thirsty and that is why you are picking up items in your shop that you don't really want or need and this could actually mean you are spending more than you need to. Next time you do a shop make sure you are well hydrated and alert so that you can make the right decisions. And remember if you are going something that is more challenging for you physically or mentally, then keep yourself hydrated because to keep that mental focus up and at its most optimal level your brain needs to be hydrated.
Daily Tips
You can carry recyclable, reusable water bottles around with you to make sure you stay hydrated when you are out and about. You can get bigger ones, but you know if you've got to carry them around then they can get quite heavy so a slightly smaller one may be better and that can ensure that you're staying hydrated. Some bottles come with simple filters in them as if you need to fill up and want your water to taste cleaner. Try filtered water as well if your tap water isn't to your taste and you're not keen to buy bottled water all the time particularly if your preferred brand comes in plastic bottles and you are conscious of creating bad waste. You can get simple water jugs with filters that are not terribly expensive and can be kept in your fridge to keep your water cool You'll know when to change the filter because the water will start tasting funny.
If you want to put a bit of flavour to your water, you could put some fresh citrus fruits in there just cut up some orange, lemon, lime or something like that, although you won't be able to do this with a water bottle that filters the water as you drink it. You could even use something like DoTERRA oils. These are very good oils that are very pure and you can use them topically, but you can also use them internally because that's how pure they are. A lot of essential oils won't let you take them internally because they are not as good a grade, so you want a really good grade oil the ones I recommend are the DoTERRA oils. You can just put one or two drops in your water just to give it a nicer flavour and they've got all the citrus blends – tangerine, wild orange, lime, lemon, grapefruit meaning there is a real choice there for you to help you can find the one that benefits and suits you. Again anything that is citrusy is going to be cleansing as well for your internal organs for your stomach and your bowels so that's really healthy as well.
If you just like water as it is start your day with a glass. Get into the habit. Get into the habit of listening to your body. If you feel maybe you're a bit peckish and you're going out and eating a load of rubbish it may just be that you're thirsty. Drink a glass of water first and then listen to your body.
If you're still hungry, you're hungry, but if you're not hungry you won't want to be having anything. Drink water, drink plenty of it. Start your day with a glass of water, drink plenty of it throughout your day and reap the benefits.
If you have joined me for this try and take this on board and do 14 days of drinking water, see how it makes you feel and if you feel better, then carry on with it. There you have it, another glass of water down, keep on going and thank you very much!
