Ways to re-energise when you feel tired. Day 2

Where has all your energy gone?

With lifestyles that are more busy and hectic than ever before it is no surprise that you may feel that you have no energy and are constantly tired. If you are of good health then it is natural that at different times of the month your energy levels will be different and that is natural. Even the weather or seasonal changes can affect your mood and energy levels. If you are constantly tired though it may be that your body is telling you to slow down and take some rest. But there could be some simple solutions to the problem that revolve around your lifestyle and habits.

Take some sunshine

It is not healthy to work in a dark environment or to be in a darkened room whilst staring at a screen or TV for very long periods of time. Some people claim that screen glare hurts their eyes and this can produce office environments particularly where the lights get switched off. This can be very tiring, but it can also promote feelings of depression, hostility, anger, irritability and anxiety. If you couple this with times of the year such as winter when light levels are their lowest it can make it even worse. SAD is Seasonal Affective Disorder that causes depressive symptoms and is often linked to winter months when there is not as much daylight.

If you have a long journey to work you may leave for work during darkness and come back home again in darkness as well. There are specialised lights that can compensate for this, but you should always ensure that there is sufficient lighting in your office or room and that you have extra lighting on your desk if needs be. When you are at work make sure you take yourself outside during daylight hours for 5 to 10 minutes during a break and on your rest days ensure that you take some time to go outside to enjoy some fresh air and daylight even if it is a cloudy day.
