Do you ever turn into a slob at the weekend? It is so easy to sit on the settee watching TV or doing nothing very much and while it is good to wind down a bit and relax it is also good to take yourself outside and get some fresh air.
You'll have already learned that the average American spends 93% of their time inside in some shape or form and that pollutants that surround you indoors are more concentrated by 2 to 5x higher than any typical outdoor concentrations. The simple act of taking a walk outside can boost your creativity and focus, not only does it provide inspiration and some fresh air, but it is good for your body as well. Being outside can improve your mood and self-esteem and it can also increase your vitamin D levels, which could help you fight infections. Then if you exercise outdoors it will be more challenging and fun and if you are recuperating from an illness going outdoors will help you deal with pain.

Try Grounding
On a nice dry day try this when you go outside. Take your shoes and socks off and spend some time walking barefoot on some fresh grass or if you are at the beach walk on some sand or if there is any try walking in some good old mud! You may not know this, but the Earth carries an enormous negative charge, which means it is electron-rich and can serve as a powerful and abundant supply of antioxidant and free-radical-busting electrons. There is a constant flow of energy between your body and the earth and when you put your bare feet on the ground, you absorb large amounts of negative electrons through the soles of your feet.
The effect is sufficient to maintain your body at the same negatively charged electrical potential as the Earth. This simple process is called "grounding" or "earthing," and its effect is one of the most potent antioxidants that you can have. Grounding has been shown to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, improve sleep, enhance wellbeing, and much, much more. If you wear rubber or plastic-soled shoes, however, you effectively shield yourself from this beneficial influx of electrons from the Earth, which is why going barefoot once in a while isn't a bad thing.
