Do you want to get out and about more?
The more adventurous you get with your walking, the more you will want to find different places to explore and you'll be more willing to travel further afield. How to get there
If it is more practical to take the car then check the roads before heading out as there is nothing worse than being stuck in a load of traffic. If you are making a day out of it are you going to use faster roads or the country route, which may take longer but be more interesting on the eye? Are you going to use a satnav? Do you have the address of your destination? Check a roadmap on line before leaving so you have a vague idea what the route is. Consider what the parking situation will be as well. Do you need to pay for parking or is there somewhere you can safely leave your car?Can you get a season ticket for parking or travel to a spot you think you want to visit regularly? You'll find city walks in particular are accessible by public transport and you could consider leaving the car at home if this is more practical. Not only is it better for the environment, you can also walk a “linear” route from A to B rather than having to end up where you started from, just to return to your car. Don’t forget to check public transport times (and any disruptions to services) before you head out.
Wherever you live in the world there are lots of beautiful places you can go to for a walk. Even if you stick to the area where you live, chances are there are parks where you can have a walk and stretch your legs and let your thoughts wander. In the UK for instance, membership to the National Trust and English Heritage opens up places and environments with some lovely walks that have the history of the place as well to offer more interest. But you don't have to live in the UK to benefit from some lovely and interesting places to walk. Chances are there are places right on your doorstep that you can go an explore and enjoy the great outdoors.
