What are you wearing on your feet?
As a Foot Health Practitioner I am always amazed by the things you put on your feet. The shoes and anything else you put on your feet say a lot about you and you will subconsciously make snap decisions about people based on their looks and what they are wearing whether you like to admit it or not.
With sunny and warmer weather arriving is is not unusual to see women and men even in summery clothing and walking around with flip flops on their feet. Sure flip flops feel like the ultimate summery option because they are light and your feet are exposed to the suns rays rather than being stifled by stuffy hot shoes or trainers. In truth though flip flops should only EVER been worn very briefly on the Beach, at the Pool, Spa or in Shared Showers. Anywhere else and you are doing your feet and the eyeballs of other passers by a massive disservice and there are some very interesting reasons why.

Flip Flops expose your feet to bacteria, viral, and fungal infections
You may not realise this, but flip flops aren't protecting your feet and because they are so exposed there will be all kinds of nasties lurking on them. In fact 16 fluid ounces of fluid is lost through your feet each day by sweating and this creates the perfect environment for bacteria and the like to thrive. If you have a weakened immune or nervous system due to having something like Diabetes Mellitus, which means you cannot notice any pain or injury to your feet then you should avoid wearing flip flops. Another problem you will notice is because your flip flops aren't supporting or staying on your feet very well either that your feet and heels are going to be looking rather the worse for wear and dirty also. In fact you should consider giving your flip flops a good clean after each time you wear them to remove all the dirt, potential bacterial, viral and fungal threats that might be lurking there.Want to keep your nails and cuticles looking their best during the summer months?
