Why does sunlight make you feel better?

Have you ever talked about the weather?

The weather is a bit of a paradox here in the UK. In fact it is always the topic of conversation in some form or another. In winter it is too cold, too dull and too dreary, while in summer it is too hot, too dry and too bright! You just can't seem to please anyone, but in truth there is something about summer that just feels better. You have more daylight hours to get things done, it is warmer and it just feels more relaxed than winter.

But it is true, happiness and the weather or rather the amount of daylight hours you are exposed to are linked. In fact it affects your body more than you may be aware.

Have you ever been SAD?

Now you may have felt sad once in a while, which is about feeling a little low in mood and not as happy as normal, but there is a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD that relates to the amount of daylight that your body receives. If you have heard of the winter blues and the feelings of lethargy, sadness and hopelessness that come from spending more of your time indoors with little exposure to natural light. Spending a lot of your time indoors and exposed to artificial light for many hours, may even encourage a year round form of SAD.

Natural sunlight therefore can help to elevate your mood and give you the energy to face your day. It is also probably why you feel like you have more energy in the summer months. Those extra hours of sun and daylight really do add up and you feel like you want to do more. You are going to be wearing lighter clothing and shoes, meaning your skin gets more of the suns rays on it too.

Want to treat yourself to something to make your nails look and feel healthier?

Feeling good about yourself also helps you to feel happier. The Happy Foot Clinic's very own scented cuticle oil range will help you to do just that. What's more you can use it on your hands and feet and with or without any nail polish or service. It is the only cuticle oil that uses a natural grapeseed oil base that is very nourishing, protecting and will help strengthen your nails and make ugly looking cuticles a thing of the past. It comes in 8 lovely scents - Lavender, Ginger, Rosemary, Marjoram, Frankincense, Peppermint, Cedarwood and YlangYlang and you can add some to your nails and cuticles throughout the day.
