Do your feet hurt when you walk?
If you are walking more, but finding your feet are causing you trouble, there may be a simple reason why your feet may hurt after walking and while it's really great you are getting out and about more, foot pain is very real and can cause lots of problems so here are some common foot pains and some solutions. The main thing is make sure you wear correctly fitting shoes and listen to your feet if you feel any pain and make sure you act upon it.
This week I will be sharing with you some common foot ailments that may be affecting your feet and some simple solutions to help alleviate them. You have already heard how plantar fasciitis causes that nasty stabbing pain in your foot and how massaging your foot and calves can help, plus a simple exercise to roll a ball under the arch of your foot. You then learned about bunions and hammertoes that can cause pain and that wearing the right shoes goes a long way to helping your feet feel better.
Calluses and hard skin
Calluses are areas of thick skin on your feet and can look unsightly, but can also become painful when you walk because the blood supply to that area will be limited due to pressure and friction. Callused areas can also develop into painful corns.
Soak and soften
Keep the skin on your feet nice and supple. Try soaking them in warm water and exfoliate with a foot scrub and paddle file. This will help boost the circulation as well as getting rid of dead skin. A moisturiser with a high urea content that is designed for calluses can then be applied as this will help to soften the skin. Remember if you do this you only need to do this until your feet are back to normal, then use an everyday foot cream.
