Don't keep it a secret!

If you want to reach a goal then keeping it a secret may not be the best thing because if you keep too quiet about something then you're less likely to be doing something to achieve that end. The people that achieve the most often tell others what they are intending to do.

Tell your friends

If you let people know what you are up to, you're going to want to show them that you have done what you said you would do. You don't have to get a loud hailer out, but just letting people know that you have an aim in mind will help to focus you on your goal. Family, friends and co-workers can also offer some friendly support and just being asked if you have done what you said you would will make you think and try harder to achieve your aim. Make yourself accountable and let people know your progress. People that lose weight the most effectively either join some sort of slimming club or group to help them and give them support.
