St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and Irish people throughout the world love to celebrate this day in many different ways. Did you know the first St Patrick's Day parade was not held in Ireland at all, but in Boston in the United States in 1737? Some people like to have a drink or two, maybe some beers, a pint of Guinness, Stout or a shot of a good Irish Whiskey.
Have you ever tried an Irish Coffee?
Irish coffee is a cocktail consisting of hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and sugar, stirred, and topped with cream. The coffee is drunk through the cream. Originally straight cream was used, but whipped cream is most common nowadays.
Ingredients 2 2/3 oz (4 parts) Hot coffee, 1 1/3 oz (2 parts) Irish whiskey, 1 tsp. Brown sugar, 1 oz (1½ parts) Fresh cream
Preparation Heat the coffee, whiskey and sugar; do not boil. Pour into glass and top with cream.
Serve Hot in an Irish coffee mug
